Day 3&4 September 20 & 21

Well September 20th was a busy and sad day, Carol Steiner was bucked off Jax at the end of the training ride, still not sure what happened to set him off as he is not a bucker, wasp(s) are the big suspects at the moment.  Carol suffered 5 broken ribs, 1 cracked, collapsed lung and a separated shoulder, she was in the step down unit over night.  As of tonight she is doing well, and rumor has it that she may be getting out of bed for a walk tomorrow.  Get well soon Carol, we miss yo u!!!

Check out the Endurance Canada web page for detail daily updates on the going ons at WEG the web page is www.endurancecanada.ca

Today we did the final inspection of the horses, including Mocha who came over from the barn she has been stay at.  The Definite Entries and the horses going into the barn are Appache, NL Temptation, Galaxy, Sport, Tesse, and Teese, with Kozaar as the reserve, and Mocha as the alternate.  The horses will continue to be evaluated on a daily basis up to race day.

This afternoon Kay, Roxy and I helped Kerri with picking up the Team Canada golf cart and vans/car which we will also be getting to use during the games; we also worked with the WEG show office to sort out 2 accreditation's which will give all the team access to the venue during the Endurance portions of the games, if we are successful it will mean that we don't need to purchase day access passes to the venue for the 24, 25 and 27.  Here's hoping !

Then off to tour around the grounds before3 they lock it down tomorrow which will mean there is no car access to the venue, one will need to park in the assigned parking lots and walk, use the golf cart or use a bicycle.  We went down to the Endurance Vet Gate and here are some photo's

The crew tents
The Canadian Crew tent, a little larger than expected, is across from the out Vet gate exit and will be able to see all the vet trot outs

The monitors at the end of the trotting lanes, will show the pulse, and if there is a vote a green light or red light

e
the arrival gates and vet in gates look like they will have 6 lanes

The entrance that we will be using to go to and from for the crew points

Grooms quarters at the RV park

Well tomorrow should be not so busy, starting to get close to race day 4 sleeps

Day 2 September 19, 2010

Busy day today, started out with horse inspection in the morning with a training ride that followed, and then more horse inspections.  Have some great photo's on my one camera which is in Kim trailer when we went to the Chef meeting, so will post some tomorrow.

Then in the afternoon we had a team building excersise lead by Kim Woolley our Team Coach, was a great session.  And then off to the Chef meeting

We hosted a Meet & Greet BBQ at the McConatlhy Farm for the Boarders and Landowners, in total there was around 80 in attendance including our selves.  We supplied the hamburgers, hotdogs and buns, the Boarders/owners supplied the side dishes and deserts, what a great time was had by all!!!  At the end of the event the Boarders put on a show for us, which included jumping, pole bending, barrels, Flag bearing, horse tricks, ropping trick

Tommorrow will be another busy day, but not as much as today. Kay and I want to get down to the venue and have a look around. Roxy, Bri and Kim had a chance to do so today while we were in the Chef meeting, and were able to pick up the accreditations for the Team.

Day 1

Arived last night around midnight, Roxy and Kay came to the Lexington Airport to pick me up, was great to see them there after such a long day, a story for another day.

First thing in the morning we went to Walmart to pick up some supplies this morning and we looked over to the right in the parking lot and there was a green truck with a camper on it with Endurance Canada signs on the side  - Collette and Lee, we later found them inside while we were looking a cell phones.  We had great assitance from Casey who helped set up our phone, and two gentelment.  One of which shared that her daughter worked at the park and was helping with the WEG, and how busy everyone was with getting all the last miniute stuff organized.

The last 3 of the horses arived around noon, that makes 8 horses here at McConathy Farm and 1 horse at Crimisin King.  Most the grooms and additional crew are here now, with a few trickling in over the weekend.

All the horses went for a short ride this afternoon and all had a good look over after - all are looking great
